Artie DeLaRiva was one of the first paramedics hired by Broward County EMS. Hired by Broward County EMS in September of 1973 and retiring in May of 2006 made Artie an EMS pioneer.

He started working at Broward EMS and saw the organization grow and eventually merge with the county Fire Department and eventually merge into the Broward Sheriff's Office.

Artie retired and moved to Tennessee last year. You can e-mail him at ARTIE81FD@aol.com.

The photo to the right is Artie and a friend welcoming people onto his property.

After watching to many Green Acres reruns on cable, Artie decides to impersonate Mr. Douglas.

According to the last e-mail Artie sent us; FARMING SUCKS! He'd rather have sand between his toes than a tractor under his butt.

Artie took this shot on a Tennessee road. Bystanders say they called the town's volunteer fire department over 45 minutes ago.

This is a training fire in the City of Weston, Florida. The date of this image is from the late 90's

Artie came out to observe the training.

Artie was a judge for the event.
